Summary:

Ba Xian Dancong (八仙单丛) — one of the rarest Phoenix Dancong oolongs from Wudong Mountain. Renowned for its orchid-like fragrance, golden liquor, and lingering sweetness, this legendary tea—descended from only eight original mother trees—offers a refined taste of Chaozhou’s high-mountain terroir and cultural heritage.

Ba Xian Dancong (八仙单丛), also known as “Eight Immortals”, is one of the most prestigious Phoenix Dancong teas from the famed Wudong Mountain in Chaozhou, Guangdong. Belonging to the rare Top Ten Fragrance Types (十大花蜜香型名枞), this tea is celebrated for its intense orchid-like aroma (芝兰花香), layered honey-fruity undertones, and signature high-mountain shan yun (山韵)—a mineral-rich resonance unique to teas grown above 800m.

The name Ba Xian originates from eight original mother bushes cultivated in the late Qing dynasty, whose exceptional quality earned the poetic title “Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea.” Today, only a handful of second-generation trees remain, making this tea exceedingly scarce and highly prized among collectors and connoisseurs.

We were fortunate to secure an exceptional batch at a more approachable price point—allowing more tea lovers to experience this legendary treasure without compromise.

Tasting Notes

  • Aroma: Striking orchid fragrance with hints of magnolia, honey, and ripe fruit
  • Liquor: Brilliant golden-yellow, bright and clear
  • Flavor: Smooth, full-bodied, and refreshing; lingering sweetness with cooling mineral aftertaste
  • Mouthfeel: Rich yet elegant, with strong hui gan (回甘) that endures for many infusions
  • Leaf: Classic “green leaf with red edges” (绿叶红镶边) after brewing

Why Choose Ba Xian Dancong?

✔ Ultra-rare origin – Descended from only eight mother trees, with annual yields measured in mere kilos

✔ High-mountain terroir – Grown at elevations above 800–1000m on Phoenix Mountain, enhancing fragrance and minerality

✔ Expert craftsmanship – Lightly charcoal-roasted to preserve floral high notes, with the distinctive leng hou hun (冷后浑) effect—when cooled, the liquor becomes even richer and cloudier, a sign of abundant natural compounds

✔ Cultural prestige – Praised by tea masters and scholars, Ba Xian is regarded as a “once-tasted, never-forgotten” Dancong
